Acmena smithii Lilly Pilly - Plants and Hedges Wholesale Suppliers

Acmena smithii are generally known as Lilly Pilly trees and are widely used as hedging plants and landscaping trees. Everg reen and flowering in spring to summer they are easily pruned to make a dense hedge if required.

These trees have now been reclassified as Syzygium smithii so watch for any confusion here.

Reasoanable drought tolerant once established but needing water in very dry conditions Acmena smithii comes in a number of cultivars and a number of trademarked names. The species will reach 15m in good conditions. These trees originally come from rainforest areas ranging from Queensland to Victoria, they are adaptable and hardy but do perform a little better in a position in a humus rich moist soil.

Valued for its charatceristic thick dense foliage and the fact that it retains its lower foliage, a great screening plant.
