Allocasuarina torulosa or 'Forest Sheoak' is one of the smaller growing She Oaks reaching around 10m depending
on conditions. Naturally occurring from Queensland down through New South Wales.
GROWING CONDITIONS
Like most related species A. torulosa requires a well drained soil, C. cunninghamia will reach around 10 - 15m depending on conditions. A dense canopy and a tendency to drop the fine foliage of its lower branches in winter make it unsuitable for growing other plants beneath the canopy.
USES
Fissured corky bark is attractive. Used widely as a screening tree and as a street tree in some areas. Attractive to birds especially parrots both for its seed cones and as a nesting place for smaller birds.
