Leopard Tree or Caeasalpina ferra
Widely planted as a street tree in Brisbane the Leopard Tree is a fairly large growing tree to 20m, although sometimes taller than this . This is a deep rooted drought tolerant tree once established that forms a large canopy and provides good shade in sum
mer. The trunk becomes a spotted brown and grey with age hence the name 'leopard tree'. As far as we can see these trees do not take kindly to hard pruning.
Well suited to tropical and subtropical climates grow leopard trees in a well drained soil and in a sunny position.
