Thuja occidentalis smaragd
With its attarctive natural cone- shaped growth Thuja occidentalis smaragd (emerald cedar) is a very popular conifer used widely in landscaping as a screen, along fences and driveways as well as in pots or containers as a specimen plant.
Thuja occidentalis smaragd will need next to no pruning as it has a very tidy growth habit only damaged or diseased wood needs to be removed. Growth rate about 2m in ten years from tubestock, however advanced plants are usually available for sale. When planting as a hedge plant at 600cm - 900cm centres and water well until established.
